I bet it was fun going through its catalogue. Man, that's amazing! I think I should do that too, going back to playing NES games. But I don't think it's the case, since you've already played I-II on NES and looking forward to play III. As far as I know there's no mainline Dragon Quest game released on GBA, unless you played the first trilogy (1,2, and 3) on it due to its backwards compatibility. I think your first DQ game ever was probably IX on DS, since VII is neither on DS nor GBA. I got Dragon Quest VII, VII or IX I think (not sure which one) for Game Boy Advance, or maybe it was DS? I'm close-ish to getting to Dragon Warrior III & looking forward to it, maybe in 2~4 months? I put it as the best NES game for '87, beating out Castlevania I/II, Faxanadu, Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! (barely, I put this as runner-up), & Mega-Man.Īfter playing 350+ games on the NES DWI & II are still in my top 10.

There was a good amount of high quality games between playing DWI & DWII, like Metroid, Castlevania, Double Dragon, Slalom, Kid Icarus, but I found DWII surpassed all of those (although I played it for like 5~6 hours, wasn't feeling it & stopped, & then came back 9 months later & played through the entire thing, probably took me 70-80 hours). Dragon Warrior was a cut above other games, I'd say only The Legend of Zelda for the games that came out in 85'/86' was more enjoyable for me than Dragon Warrior, I put it above Super Mario Bros.

I only beat maybe 5 or 6 games up to playing the first Dragon Warrior, & the other 50 or so odd games I didn't get too into. I've been going in order by release date & most games don't interest me enough to play them through fully. I decided to start the long journey to try to play (not beat, just try) every single NES game.

Years later I have his emulator that hooks up through HDMI with a TV, has USB SNES controllers & comes with every NES/SNES game & a bunch more (1000+ GBA games, lots of Sega Genesis, even as old as Atari2600, etc, etc). It was good, but I wasn't in the good at the time to get into an RPG, so after maybe 5 or 6 hours total I stopped playing. Years ago I got Dragon Quest VII, VII or IX I think (not sure which one) for Game Boy Advance, or maybe it was DS?.
